World of Warcraft in Widescreen

I am currently running WoW on Vista Beta 2 (has been confirmed in the 5456 build also), everything is running fine (I can and am able to get past the loading screen and play the game, unlike some others have posted). The issue that I'm having is that I am unable to adjust the resolution of the game to the provided widescreen setting. It seems that the game does not think it has those resolutions available to it. Another issue is that there are no refresh rates available to choose from under settings (in WoW).
As a side note, Blizzard had commented that they believe it is a DX10 issue since WoW was developed for DX9. (See this thread: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-tech-support&t=917227&tmp=1 )
Cheers!

Thanks for posting
There are definitly some problems with a lot of games and how they pick up available resolutions, so it probaly is an issue with the current builds.

I am having a similar problem. World of Warcraft works fine in Vista. I played for a few hours with no issues. However I could not change the resolution. It is stuck on 800x600.

The forums on the warcraft site believe that is a problem with DirectX 10 talking to a DX9 application. Can we expect a patch soon so I can install and continue testing Vista? "Sean P. Thomas" wrote:

**SOLUTION** I got pass this problem by installing the xp drivers for my video card via device manager. Now I can play WoW in 1440x900 just like in xp and I seem to get a boost of about 10 fps with vista.
Hope this helps
